HATS GOALS
It is Hoke Area Transit Services Goal to be consistent with the goal of Transit 2001, to develop an efficient, effective, safe, reliable, and convenient rural public transportation program that is designed to meet the mobility needs of the entire community. Such as develop rural general public routes throughout county, Dial-A-Ride, VanPool.

(HATS) Hoke Area Transit Services is a Department of Hoke County Government. Established in 1996, the department serves as the coordinated transportation program for the County. The service area is Hoke County. Some out-of-county demand response medical service transportation is provided that may involve travel to Moore County, Cumberland Count, Durham/Chapel Hill and other surrounding counties.

HATS normal operating hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. HATS operate a fleet of thirteen vehicles, which are used to provide subscription, demand response, and occasional special group transportation. General Public Transportation is available on a space available need.

HOKE AREA TRANSIT SERVICES provide an average of 3200 trips on a monthly basis. Since service inception as HATS in 1996, the number of trips per month has increase by 65%. Agencies participating in the system determine passenger eligibility and call HATS to arrange transportation. Each agency is invoiced on a monthly basis, by the number of passenger miles taken per agency. The fully allocated cost of transportation is $0.89 per mile.
